Ballet Eddy Toussaint

Hailed “Champion of Classical Dance” by the Montreal Gazette, Eddy Toussaint has studied dance from the tender age of 6 under ballet masters throughout America and Europe. With bachelor’s degrees in pedagogy and dance, he began teaching in 1973 at the Banff School of Fine Arts, in Alberta.

In 1976, his company was invited to the Olympic Games in Montreal for which he created a piece inspired by his native Haiti. During the following years, Mr. Toussaint toured the world with his company. In 1983, he received the Great Montrealer award, and the following year was awarded gold medal for Best Contemporary Choreography at the first International Ballet Competition. The 1980s marked an important period in his career. During this time he won multiple awards, was praised and honoured in Canada, France, Italy, Russia, the United States, and in his beloved Haiti. Today he continues to create pieces and dedicates himself body and soul to dance throughout the world. As a choreographer for over 104 ballet pieces showcased in over 12 repertoires across the world, Mr. Toussaint is undoubtedly a true master.
